I've been reading the book on the left and listening to the book on the right. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Rachel Stafford a year (maybe TWO!) ago when she visitors Austin. Such a sweet soul. I LOVE her books. They have made a forever impact on my mind and my thought process as I'm working as hard as I can to be an in touch, loving, in the moment Momma....instead of a stressed out, angry, yelling, always playing catch up Momma. A recurrent theme in her books is to be present with the ones you love the most. Truly present. I am eternally distracted by nature and technology has made it way WAY worse. My "just a minute" is always 30 mins, and I always have something else "more important" to do that take a moment to soak in life. I've missed a lot. I digress. Today I realized I took a moment. I noticed something special. And simple.
Unless you're fasting from facebook and instagram, you know that my youngest son got glasses this week. And it's quite possibly the cutest addition to his personality ever. He may never hear the word no again. It has changed him. He feels better, he's not struggling to see! He passed the school eye exam but my instinct told me he was struggling. Something about his posture when watched TV or looked at the computer screen. Trust your momma gut ladies.
He just got them yesterday, so they are still pretty novel and he is still discovering all the cool things about wearing glasses! Sitting here snuggling and watching SpongeBob while on spring break, he realizes that the steam from his hot cocoa fogged up his glasses. As we sit here and huff on each other's glasses, fogging them up and giggling with each other, I am so thankful for the encouragement from Rachel to enjoy what she calls sunset moments. He may not remember the moment but the peacefulness it brought to my soul about made my heart burst.
Im not being compensated (or even asked) to talk about these books at all. I have just enjoyed them so much that I wanted to share them with you. What is your sunset moment today??
