Lucky for us our homeowners association brings in snow to help us get in the Christmas spirit. $5 gets you a wrist band, hot chocolate, and snacks and all the access you want to the snow...until it melts or you are too covered in mud to want to play anymore! Now THIS is how to do snow!! :) Pumping it from the truck to the ground for the "snowball fight" I think the kids really enjoyed it. It was a little crazy....many kids were upset about getting muddy. 60* was melting the snow FAST! If it had been yesterday it would have been much better! I was dripping sweat in my hoodie and the kids all ditched their jackets...and clothes! (For the Mom & Dad, this is the best way to play in the snow!) This should hold them over until we get back to Illinois to enjoy some real snow. The snow here was a little bit like a giant snow cone. :)

The man of our house is FINALLY sporting some specs! And they look pretty great! It only took me nearly FIFTEEN years to convince him he needed them. (Something about my refusal to let him drive overnight to go back home unless he had them must have motivated him.) I love it! Its amazing how fast I got used to seeing him with them on, now he looks funny without them! He adjusted to them amazingly well and with about 1/10th of the whining that would have come from me! HAHAHAHA.
Every year I am torn over the whole Santa/no Santa debate but our kids already know it...how do you take that away? I don't know! So this year my goal is to use Santa and our elf, Riley, as a way to teach about Jesus' love for us. I wrote a new letter, that needs a lot of work, to help explain to the kids how Riley was not here to observe the kids being "naughty" or "nice", since Jesus loves us no matter what...I don't want that to be the focus. Anyhow, its still a rough concept that I am working on in my head. I'm hoping by the time the boys can remember what the letters said that I have it worked out a little more eloquently! :) So Riley showed up yesterday afternoon and we kicked off the season with a new movie (Planes), pizza in the living room, and homemade PJ pants...that the kids LOVED. :) It only took making 7 pairs to get 5 successful pairs! Oops! Now that I have got it figured out though...I am on a pant making rampage! Look out...you're getting pants for Christmas! HA! ^^ So these were a MAJOR pant fail! HA! The pants were actually really cute but just a little too snug for Liv to pull up..so I decided I could just add a section in the center to make them bigger....all I really did was manage to make PJ pants with a diaper in the center. I laughed and laughed and laughed at them. Ah well, sometimes my ideas work, and sometimes not! I had also made Reese's pair too small, so I used the legs of Olivias pants (since I sewed in that fancy side panel) to make a new, bigger pair for Reese. :) http://mycottoncreations.blogspot.com/2010/07/christmas-eve-pajama-pants-tutorial.html This is the tutorial I used. It was super cinchy. My advice is to make sure you use a pair of loose fitting pants to pattern the girls pants, especially if you're not using a stretchy fabric. Also be sure to leave enough length between the crotch and the waistband. Everyone rocking out their new pants. J says, "these are com-fo-ble!". If J likes them....I hit a winner!
