So you heard correctly. We are moving to Texas! The Austin area to be a little more specific. The kids are excited. We are excited. Our parents are not so excited. We consistently get the same questions. So I guess that is where I will start!!
#1 Why Texas?
My answer? Why not!! Nick and I visited Texas for the first time in 2002 and we knew in those 4 short days that someday we wanted to be full time residents in that great big 'ol state. The added bonuses are things like being able to carry concealed weapons if we want, more predictable weather, the opportunity for fresh seafood and farmers markets, and no more shoveling snow in the winter!
#2 Have you sold your house?
Sadly, no one has knocked on our door and asked to buy the place! HA! Truth be told I was like seven months pregnant when this opportunity arose and there was no way I was going to be able to handle the demands of having our house on the market. So our plan is to put it on the market AFTER we have moved out. It will get cleaned, painted, and re-carpeted. Then it will be for sale! Anyone looking for a great 5 bedroom, 2.5 bath home?? Fenced back yard!!
#3 Are the kids excited?
Jacob and Reese have no idea. So, sure they're excited. Jacob can feel the stress of it, we can see it in his behavior. Mikey CANNOT WAIT to get to Texas and play football. This child lives and breaths sports. He asks everyday if we can move in the morning. Olivia has mixed emotions. Shes a cowgirl at heart but is old enough that she's going to miss her friends. Ultimately, I believe she is happy. Kristo was not excited initially but he is starting to come around. When we told him, he was quite angry but as he's realized that there will be opportunities for things like gamers clubs and shooting teams, he has gotten more and more excited.
#4 What is Nick going to do?
We are selling the office here and buying an office there. In simple terms. There is a great new chiropractor taking over for Nick, once everything final goes through. He is a new grad and is from the area. Exciting for him!! It should be a seamless take over for Nick in Austin too.
We appreciated any and all positive energy, prayers, juju, meditations. Whatever it is that you are into. We still have a couple of things we need to fall into place before we can go but we trust that everything will be in God's perfect timing for us. Oh and welcome to my blog!
